VINTAGE NANTUCKET LIGHTSHIP BASKET POCKETBOOK
Circa 1960s Oval Nantucket Lightship Basket Shoulder Bag Purse, unsigned but possibly by Jose Formoso Reyes (1902-1980), with leather shoulder strap, carved whale on ebony lid plaque, latch pin and handle pegs, map of Nantucket and 'Made in Nantucket' carved on base, 6 3/4" high (19" drop from top of strap to top of purse), nice patina, 7 1/2" x 6 1/2". Wear to leather strap and rim area behind strap, 1" wide single splint loss area just above base. PROVENANCE: From a private collection in Boulder, CO.
