Val Saint Lambert - Val Saint Lambert - Centrepiece - Crystal, Metal
Beautiful Centerpiece / Fruit Bowl "Bambous et Étoiles" – Val Saint Lambert
Production Date / Period: Circa 1913–1915 (Art Nouveau Period / Edwardian Era) .
Marking: Piece signed in relief on the bottom of the bowl: "VAL ST LAMBERT BELGIQUE" (as visible in the macro image of the signature) .
Materials: Upper plate in mid-crystal (high-quality pressed and cut glass) ; pedestal in worked cast metal (probably regulus alloy or antimony with a dark patina of the period) .
Detailed Description: Elegant centerpiece composed of a circular bowl with a cut and wavy rim. The glass body features radial geometric decorations with facets shaped into fine-pointed stars and relief fluting ("bambous") . It rests on a central cylindrical column fixed to a tripod base in Historicist/Art Nouveau style, richly decorated with volutes, foliage, and smooth oval relief medallions.
It is in very good structural condition, very solid; the crystal is truly very good, with no flaws, chips, etc. —it was highly valued. The metal parts show wear to the silvering, normal for a piece over 100 years old. The support between the silvered metal base and the crystal bowl is in metal of a different color; it seems to me to be original and not a modified piece, everything fits together perfectly.
