Valdivian Spindle Whorl & Spondylus Shell Necklace

Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Valdivian people, Earliest Horizon, ca. 2300 to 2000 BCE. A fabulous necklace of a wearable form composed of a modern sterling silver chain with looped terminals held with a double French hook. The center of the necklace features a pottery spindle whorl pendant with a rounded top, a carinated body, and a vertical suspension hole, and beneath it hang three groups of thin pink-and-white spondylus shell discs. Beautiful and fashionable! Size (necklace): 18.2" L (46.2 cm); (pottery pendant): 1.1" W x 0.7" H (2.8 cm x 1.8 cm); quality of sterling silver: 92.5% or higher.
