This painting is related to Valentin de Boulogne's (1591–1632) “Die Falschspieler” (c. 1615–1618), which is located at Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden, inventory no. 408. Boulogne's painting is based on a similar work by Caravaggio, which has been missing since the late 19th century.
Condition Report:
Few retouches, crackles and peelings. A minor hole/dent near upper right corner. In need of a light surface cleaning.
