Vanadium-bearing Dravite (Tourmaline) Nadonjukin, Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, Tanzania 5.0 x 5.0 x 2.9 cm (1.97 x 1.97 x 1.14 in) A stunning crystal of Dravite perched atop a predominantly Calcite matrix. The Dravite measure a respectable 0.9 x 0.8 centimeters in size, is transparent, and has a gorgeously deep green color that is caused by higher vanadium contents. Complete across the front side of the specimen, the Dravite has a complex prismatic habit and is sharply terminated with every face flashing brightly from the Tourmaline's striking luster. Many of the rust-brown specks scattered across the matrix are likely tiny associations of Garnet. Underneath shortwave UV-C light, the matrix shows various areas of orange, yellow, and green fluorescence. From the collection of John Warn [TNZ2115f].
