Vanessa Mitrani - Sculpture, NAIL - 43 cm - Glass, Golden steel - 2015

A sculpture by designer Vanessa Mitrani, dating from 2015, created for the Roche Bobois brand.
Typical of his very poetic work and specialized in blown glass and which always plays with the limits of the material.
Here, the roundness and fragility of the beautiful garnet-colored glass interact in a playful and provocative way with an oversized, hard and prickly nail. The piece plays on the codes of the balloon, piercing and contrast, while highlighting the elasticity of glass and its flexibility in sculptural curves.
This sculpture is mouth-blown, and the nail is gilded with gold.
Vanessa Mitrani is distributed worldwide by prestigious brands such as Roche Bobois, Lane Crawford, Bergdorff Goodman and Cassina.
Some of his creations are part of the permanent collection of the Musée de Arts Décoratif de Paris.
The elements are made in close collaboration with artisans, and are assembled in her workshop in Pantin, near Paris, where she designs all her collections.
