TONY BROOKS was the first British driver to win a Grand Prix in a British car since Sir Henry Segrave in 1922, with his victory at Syracuse in a Connaught in 1955. He drove for the Vanwall team in 1957 and 1958, scoring four wins before joining Ferrari in 1959, with whom he won twice. He retired from active racing after a season with BRM in 1961.
