A Book of Hours is a liturgical manual that contains the prayers and readings for the different hours of the day. These books were very popular in Europe between the 14th and 16th centuries, especially among aristocratic women.
A Book of Hours typically includes:
Calendar: indicates the religious holidays and saints commemorated on each day of the year.
Hours of the Madonna: a series of prayers dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
Penitential Psalms: Seven psalms that express repentance for sins.
Gospels: passages taken from the four Gospels.
Litany of the Saints: invocations to the saints to ask for their intercession.
Suffrages: prayers for the deceased.

Movable holiday calendars at the beginning of the book from 1885 to the year of publication. The internal pages of the book show no particular signs of wear or stains.
