Vase - A 19th Century French Jacob Petit Gilt and Encrusted Porcelain Vase - Porcelain
A highly decorative 19th-century French hard-paste porcelain vase by the celebrated master Jacob Petit (1796–1868) . The baluster-form body rises from a flared circular foot to a scalloped, foliate rim, heavily enriched throughout with intricate hand-painted gold leaf scrollwork. The front and reverse are densely applied with highly detailed, high-relief encrusted porcelain flowers (fleurs en relief) , featuring large blossoming roses, dahlias, and field flowers delicately detailed in pink, purple, and blue enamels. The piece is fitted with vibrant, twisted sky-blue handles. Note: The vase shows minor typical firing imperfections and a small, professionally executed restoration to some of the delicate porcelain flower petals, which does not diminish its overall display quality
