[ translate ]

Large Satsuma ceramic vase with an elegant and harmonious shape, which offers a perfect background for decorative elaborations.

The reserves with the encounter of Samurai dressed in armor and Kawari Kabuto, and the other depicting a Shinto ceremony, add an intriguing narrative element to the work, allowing us to imagine deeper stories and meanings.

On the sides the reserves feature detailed and refined floral motifs. The flowers, painted with great skill, can be interpreted as symbols of beauty, harmony and rebirth, elements often present in Japanese artistic creations.

The use of gold and thick enamels with pronounced relief highlights the level of detail and precision in the work.

The areas in relief allow us to further appreciate the depth and realism of the figures depicted, while the gold gives an aura of elegance and prestige to the entire work.

---The vase is in excellent condition. Please refer to the images for further details.

Satsuma ceramics represent one of Japan's most precious artistic treasures.
Originally produced in the province of Satsuma, now Kagoshima, on the island of Kyushu during the Edo period (1603-1868) , Satsuma ceramics are works of art of a unique artisan quality, which are the result of the incredible skill of the artists Japanese and the low temperature cooking technique. This technique allows you to create delicate shapes and bright colors and its very fine cràclure, visible to the naked eye, is noticeable in every work.
The subjects depicted often present human or animal figures, landscapes, flowers and plants with the choice of colors and shades being very important.
In the 19th century, great master decorators and modelers opened new kilns in the provinces of Kyoto, Awata and Osaka, breathing new life into Satsuma pottery with new techniques, decorations and colours.
Today, Satsuma ceramics are still highly prized by collectors around the world and are considered true treasures of Japanese art.
