Hammered copper tsuiki ware vase with a silver coloured leaf and branch design on a dark ochre background. The vase has a nice bulky body that tapers down to the base. The neck of the vase is thin and slightly raised. The vase is marked with a seal by the Studio Gyokusendo 玉川堂. In very good condition. Please see the photos as a reference. Height 12. 5 cm, Diameter 16. 5 cm Gyokusendo has been a leading Tsuiki technique copperware maker in Japan since 1816. Tsuiki 鎚起 a metal working technique that is derived from the words 'hammer' and 'raise'. The creation of vessels via this metalworking technique require an array of different tools.
