Beautiful large Kinuta celadon globular vase with applied peony design after Chinese Song-Yuan Dynasty Longquan celadon ware, in original signed box. Bottom mark: Shūseidō Tōzan-zō. The maker is Miyanaga Tōzan II (1907-1995) . He was the second generation of the potter family Tōzan. The term Kinuta (砧青瓷) represents the most admired blue-green colour from the Song period. When shipped we will add a certificate of authenticity. Japan has an exceptionally long and successful history of ceramic production. Earthenwares were created as early as the Jōmon period (10,500–300 BC) , giving Japan one of the oldest ceramic traditions in the world. Japanese ceramists are famous for their glazes, their secret recipes are passed on from generations to generations.
