Venetian Aspera / Bucket of the XVIth Century - Glass "a Ghiaccio" of Murano and Lumeggiature in Oro - Second half 16th century

. Venetian bucket/aspergillum from the 16th century (second half of the 1500s) .
. Renaissance objects present in numerous Italian and foreign museums, produced in Murano from the second half of the 15th century until the early 18th century; destined for export, liturgical uses or, in rare case, profane ones. Manufactured according to the tradition, in fine, colourless blown Murano glass, with unique decorations obtained with the ‘frosted glass’ technique (typical of 16th century Murano glassmakers) , embellished with golden highlights, lion heads and blackberries. Round base with ‘disc foot’, typical of that era. Semicircular twisted handle.

Original item, dating back to the 16th century (as shown by the lion heads and blackberries decoration, with golden highlights, typical of the time and ‘frosted glass’ technique, according to experts opinions) . The item comes from a private collection and it was purchased from an antique dealer in Tuscany in the late 1980s, along with other highly valuable objects (the purchase contract, containing a description of the items features, is attached to the photos) . Rare bucket/aspergillum with a high and steady value, sold in international auctions, as shown in the attached photos of similar items found online.
. Please look at the pictures, which are an integral part of the description, to fully appreciate the details of the object and decorations, including the lion's heads, where you can see the gold used for highlights, the handle, and the glass wire decorations on the body.
. Item in very good condition and in excellent state of preservation, the only minor flaws, due to ageing, are a minor chip at the handle and signs of a small possible restoration on one of the two handle loops, performed before the purchase and fixed to the edge (as shown in the last pictures) .
