Venetian School second half 15th century - The Virgin and Child
Venetian School second half 15th century
The Virgin and Child
Oil on panel. 42 x 29 cm.
The present work by an anonymous master can be brought into connection with the Padua circle of Francesco Squarcione (c. 1395 - c. 1468), who had a large workshop. However, the work also shows the artist's knowlege of the Venetian school of the late 15th century, especially the style of Antonio Vivarini and Giovanni d´Alemagna.
