Venetian seal depicting the Lion of St. Mark ‘in moleca’ (in Venetian dialect ‘Leon in Moeca’) , made of ‘Biancone di Asiago’ marble. According to the Venetian tradition, ‘in moleca’ means that the lion act as a crab, holding the Bible between its claws. Item of excellent workmanship, from a villa in the city of Venice. In the past, in the Venetian district it was customary to wall this emblem in, as shown by the most important villas of the area. A unique piece, a one of a kind lot, of excellent workmanship, entirely hand-carved and handcrafted, very well detailed. Perfect if hung up on a wall or placed on top of a tripod, as shown in photos.
