Pre-Columbian, Gulf Coast of Mexico, Veracruz, ca. 3rd to 7th century CE. A trio of hand-built pottery figures known as coast watchers, each with a tripod base, thick arms, and broad heads with slit-form eyes. One figure bears remains of red pigment across the forehead. Size of largest: 3" W x 4" H (7.6 cm x 10.2 cm)
Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-Artemis Gallery; ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, Illinois, USA, acquired prior to 1970.
