[ translate ]

Large round bowl or dish in untinted opalescent molded-pressed glass, with relief decoration of three fish. Very beautiful opalescence.

Art Deco period.
Signature in relief "Verlys France" in the center of the dish (see photo) .

In 1925, the Holophane glassworks located in Andelys in the Eure department in France, specializing in the manufacture of optical glass and lenses for lighthouses and beacons, opened an art glass department under the Verlys brand. The first creations will be objects in tinted glass which will give way in 1933 to the production of pressed molded glass whose level of perfection and mastery of manufacturing, especially in opalescence, will have nothing to envy of the most illustrious houses of the era such as Sabino or Lalique. The Verlys brand has attached itself to illustrious creators such as Pierre d'Avesn who worked at Verlys between 1937 and 1940. The Holophane house will cease its artistic production of the Verlys brand in 1946 to keep only its industrial department of headlight lenses .

Very good state. Some signs of use with minimal scratches. No shine.
Diameter 26. 8 cm - Height 6 cm.
