朝見香城 Asami Kojo (1890-1974)
Japanese painter of the Taisho and Showa periods. Born in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture in 1890. His real name is Torajiro. Studied under Mori Getsujo and later Nishiyama Suisho. Specialized in flower-and-bird paintings. He moved to Nagoya in 1913 and became active as a painter of the New School, winning numerous prizes at the Bunten, Nitten, and Teiten exhibitions. In 1928, he established the Chukyo Bijutsuin (Chukyo Art Institute) , where he taught younger artists. In 1930, his work "Autumn Brilliance" was selected for the 2nd Prince Shotoku Dedication Art Exhibition. Aichi Prefecture Cultural Merit Award.
