Veronica Poblano is the daughter of Leo Poblano, one of the first Zuni artists to popularize the carved and inlaid mosaic work of the 1940s that later became emblematic of the tribe. Her mother, Ida Vacit Poblano, was also an artist, and Veronica has carved stone and made jewelry since the 1960s. She grew up in the most important family of Zuni lapidary work, and the discipline shows in every piece here. Her mature work marries traditional and contemporary elements in metal and gemstones.
