Notes:
Clos de la Roche takes its name in part from its terroir, particularly rocky and calcareous, made up of large blocks and a shallow depth of soil. Paradoxically, however, it is not a clos. This Grand Cru traditionally produces powerful, textured wines with a very pronounced minerality. The Clos de la Roche of Domaine Hubert Lignier, from 2 parcels in Monts Luisants and Frémières, is distinguished by its density and complexity.

1991 begins with a cool spring and continues with several episodes of frost in April. After a hail-stricken June, the heat and the absence of rain in July and August bring a welcome change in the climatic scenario. The 1991 wines stand out for their finesse and a fine ageing potential.

1993 enjoys a favourable spring, leading to an even flowering. July, marked by hail and humidity, gives way to a hot, dry August, which concentrates the berries on the vines while preserving their acidity. The wines of the vintage are distinguished by their richness and fine structure.

1999 is one of those vintages combining ripeness and quantity. A cold winter and frosts in April are followed by a harmonious flowering in mid-June. The summer offers an ideal scenario: fine warm spells alternate with wet episodes and spare the vines from water stress. The harvest takes place in very good sanitary conditions. 1999 stands as an exceptional vintage and offers coloured, rich, ripe, concentrated and tannic reds with a very promising ageing potential.

Domaine Hubert Lignier will be pleased to include the winning bidder in its annual allocation. This allocation will be managed and invoiced directly by Domaine Hubert Lignier, starting with the 2027 vintage.
