Notes:
Clos de la Roche takes its name in part from its terroir, particularly rocky and calcareous, made up of large blocks and a shallow depth of soil. Paradoxically, however, it is not a clos. This Grand Cru traditionally produces powerful, textured wines with a very pronounced minerality. The Clos de la Roche of Domaine Hubert Lignier, from 2 parcels in Monts Luisants and Frémières, is distinguished by its density and complexity.

2000 is the vintage of abundance. Beginning with a mild winter, the season continues with a warm, dry spring. July, wet and cold, is saved by August, whose heat keeps the vines healthy. With their elegant fruitiness, the 2000 wines are charming, supple and pleasing.

The 2003 vintage is marked by the legendary heatwave with which it is associated. Beginning with a wet winter and a mild spring, the season is hit by severe frosts on 11 and 12 April. An exceptionally hot and dry summer follows, resulting in particularly early harvests, from mid-August. In the glass, the 2003 vintage yields fleshy, expressive and rich wines.

The year 2009 begins with a warm spring and an early flowering. July gives way to hot, dry and very sunny weather from mid-August. A few well-timed showers at the end of the month speed up the ripening, which finishes during the first half of September. At the end of the harvest, the berries will yield ripe, fleshy, fruity and supple wines.

Domaine Hubert Lignier will be pleased to include the winning bidder in its annual allocation. This allocation will be managed and invoiced directly by Domaine Hubert Lignier, starting with the 2027 vintage.
