Notes:
Clos de la Roche takes its name in part from its terroir, particularly rocky and calcareous, made up of large blocks and a shallow depth of soil. Paradoxically, however, it is not a clos. This Grand Cru traditionally produces powerful, textured wines with a very pronounced minerality. The Clos de la Roche of Domaine Hubert Lignier, from 2 parcels in Monts Luisants and Frémières, is distinguished by its density and complexity.
After a wet start to the year, the 2011 vintage enjoys a mild spring, marked by an early and even flowering in May. June, exceptionally hot and sunny, is offset by a more moderate summer, alternating between heat, storms and rain. The vintage will give fresh, pure and fine wines.
2015 is a sun-drenched vintage. After a mild and wet winter, the warm and bright spring encourages a rapid and early flowering. Heat and drought set in from June, tempered by the water reserves and the summer rains, which restart the ripening through to September. 2015 is the image of a balanced vintage that brings together fruit, substance, ripe tannins and fine acidity. Its ageing potential is remarkable.
The 2016 vintage, after a wet and exceptionally mild winter, has a cold and rainy spring and is marked by a major episode of frost at the end of April. The heat and sun of June–July allow the vines to catch up and reach optimal ripeness through to the harvest, which begins on 28 September at the estate. The 2016 Pinot Noirs are precise and fresh, with silky tannins.
Domaine Hubert Lignier will be pleased to include the winning bidder in its annual allocation. This allocation will be managed and invoiced directly by Domaine Hubert Lignier, starting with the 2027 vintage.
