Very Fine American Classical Carved Mahogany Sofa
Circa 1830, likely by William King working in the District of Columbia. The carving is excellent and the sofa has fine lines. The grape cluster carving on the arms is very close to that of an example owned by Colonial Williamsburg. The secondary wood of this sofa is tulip poplar. Very fine fabric and well preserved throughout. H42 1/2" W99" D26 1/4" Sold from the collection of an upstate South Carolina gentleman.
