each with brass plaque affixed to rear seat rail inscribed PRESENTED BY GEORGE WASHINGTON TO MAJOR JOHN CLARK OF YORK PENNSYLVANIA, each chair branded on the rear seat rail, J.JOAD
Height 38 5/8 in.

Condition Report:
The chairs are in very fine overall condition. Retains a dark historic surface. Minor abrasions to corners or front legs commensurate with age and use. Small break to center of crest rail, only visible upon close examination.
Seat height: 18 5/8 in.
