Very Fine and Rare Set of Five Federal Carved Mahogany Serpentine-Front Side Chairs

The set appears to retain its original surface.
Height 38 3/4 in.

Condition Report:
One chair with cracked splat that has been reglued. Another chair with replaced glue blocks. Beautifully patinated mahogany; majority is original finish. Overall excellent condition. Splat carving sharp. Legs full height with dotage. All splats and shoes for splat are original but some have splits reglued. Joints reglued where needed; one swag reglued; one crest rail reglued; repaired break to one rear stretcher. One proper right rear leg with previously reglued crack below rear stretcher reglued; one chair with both front legs pieced at end. Some chairs have some old replaced corner blocks. Reupholstered several times, requiring some consolidation of inside edge of rails, with barrier coat of hide glue under epoxy putty to accept tacking. All of the above is standard usage damage
