Very Rare Etruscan Bronze Figure of a Kouros , 6th - 5th century BC; height cm 10,5; Example of archaic kouros archetype, characterized by the typical standing arrangement, outlined features, adhering arms to the body and sticking legs between them. Originally fixed in a base, generally in stone or metal; Derived from the Greek practice and following the use of sacral purpose, probably dedicated in a sanctuary as a votive offering to the gods. Untouched dark green patina. Provenance: ex BFA, Auction 43, lot 79; property of a gentleman; acquired on the European art market between 1960s and 1980s.
