Very large cloisonné vase marked Lao Tian Li - Cloisonne enamel - China - Republic period (1912-1949)

An exceptional cloisonné vase, standing 45. 5cm tall including the reticulated wooden stand, very finely decorated with polychrome enamels within wire reserves, in archaic decoration of taotie masks inside palm leaf shaped lappets, against a dark blue ground of square clouds, the handles shaped as gold plated mythical beasts. Marked to the underside with manufacturer's mark Lao Tian Li Zhi (circa 1910-1930) . All visible metal parts are gold plated. Condition: Excellent. The vase was kept in the storage facility of a wealthy Belgian family in a sealed wooden box stamped 1981, wrapped in newspapers dating from 1981. It has remained untouched for the last 40 years. The previous history is unknown. There is one small bite to the foot rim, see pictures. Absolutely no other imperfections. This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
