[ translate ]

Handcrafted Wooden Magazine Rack by Vicent Orts – Reclaimed Poplar Wood.
This unique handcrafted wooden magazine rack by Valencia-based designer Vicent Orts is part of his celebrated “Clops i Plots” collection, developed during the Entorns Creative Residency (June 2023) . Made from reclaimed local poplar wood planks—known as “Pots de Clop” and salvaged from the rubble of old rural houses—each piece is meticulously restored and transformed into a timeless functional design object.

Rooted in vernacular craftsmanship, the rack takes inspiration from traditional farming methods used to repair doors, embodying the resourceful and pragmatic spirit of rural communities. Rather than using new raw materials, Orts highlights the value of existing local resources, creating sustainable objects that are deeply connected to place and memory.

The result is a poetic and practical design piece, blending sustainability, heritage, and contemporary aesthetics, adding warmth and authenticity to modern interiors while sparking meaningful conversations around material temporality and circular design practices.
