Pasmore zählt zu den wichtigsten und einflussreichsten Vertretern der abstrakten und konstruktivistischen Kunst Englands in der Nachkriegszeit. Ab 1927 studierte Malerei in Teilzeit bei der Central School of Arts neben seinem Job als Beamter. Nach ersten Experimenten in der Abstraktion wählte er zuerst einen lyrisch-figürlichen Stil inspiriert von Claude Monet und Paul Cézanne. Ab den späten 1940er Jahren entwickelte er einen rein abstrakten Stil, stark beeinflusst von den Werken und Schriften Piet Mondrians und Paul Klees, aber auch durch seinen Kontakt zu Ben Nicholson und der "Circle-Gruppe". In seiner Funktion als Lehrer wurde er ebenfalls zur leitenden Figur in der Reform der künstlerischen Ausbildung in England. Sein bahnbrechender Lehrgang an der Durham University in Newcastle, der sich am "Grundkurs" des Bauhauses orientierte, wurde zum Vorbild für die Kunsthochschulausbildung im Vereinigten Königreich. 1959 und 1964 wurde Pasmore zur documenta II und III eingeladen und 1965 zur Biennale von Sao Paolo. 1966 zog er zusammen mit seiner Frau nach Malta, wo er bis zu seinem Lebensende blieb. Dort wurde 2014 die Victor Pasmore Gallery von der Central Bank of Malta in Zusammenarbeit mit der Victor Pasmore Foundation eröffnet.

Pasmore was one of the most important and influential representatives of abstract and constructivist art in England in the post war period. In 1927 he began to study painting part-time at the Central School of Arts alongside his job as a civil servant. After initial experiments in abstraction, he first chose a lyrical figurative style inspired by Claude Monet and Paul Cézanne. From the late 1940s onwards he developed a purely abstract style, strongly influenced by the works and writings of Piet Mondrian and Paul Klee, but also by his contact with Ben Nicholson and the ''Circle Group''. In his capacity as a teacher, he also became a leading figure in the reform of artistic education in England. His pioneering course at Durham University in Newcastle, which was based on the Bauhaus ''basic course,'' became a model for art college education in the United Kingdom. Pasmore was invited to documenta II and III in 1959 and 1964, and to the Sao Paolo Biennale in 1965. In 1966, he and his wife moved to Malta, where he remained until the end of his life. There, in 2014, the Victor Pasmore Gallery was opened by the Central Bank of Malta in collaboration with the Victor Pasmore Foundation.
