Victor Regnault (1810–1878)
Victor Regnault (1810–1878)
The Sèvres Porcelain Factory Under the Snow, c. 1852.
Salted paper print, from a paper negative, mounted on cardboard.
33.2 x 42.5 cm
A photograph taken from roughly the same vantage point—though the site is not covered in snow in that image—is reproduced in Isabelle Jammes’s book on Blanquart-Évrard’s publications (1981). However, the print presented here does not appear to match the tonal qualities associated with the Lille-based publisher’s printing technique.
