VICTOR VASARELY (Pecs, 1908 - Paris, 1997) Hungarian painter living in Paris, associated with kinetic art. He was an artist who has often been considered the father of op art. He insisted on incorporating the temporal dimension into plastic form, a path already begun by the Futurists and by Marcel Duchamp. His painting combines the laws of physics and geometry with knowledge of the perceptive qualities of color and its influence on visual perception, and on occasions he paid less attention to the beauty of the forms than to the visual surprise they produce, motivated by the perceptual deception.
