Victorian Carved Walnut Magazine Rack

A Victorian-era wall-hanging magazine rack or letter pocket constructed from hand-carved walnut with a secondary wood backboard. The front panel features an intricate pierced fretwork design centered by a scrolling banner bearing the hand-carved relief letters WELCOME. The surrounding ornamentation includes scrolling acanthus leaves, foliate borders, and a cross-hatched textured ground at the base. The front pocket is attached to the backboard using small nails. The reverse reveals the grain of the secondary wood and pierced cutouts following the top profile. The relief-carved word WELCOME is the only inscription present on the piece; there are no legible maker marks, signatures, or labels.
