Victorian Hardstone Cameo Brooch Pendant | 18K Gold Pin
A magnificent Victorian hardstone cameo brooch pendant, set in 18Kt gold, France, circa 1860s-1880s.; This exceptionally carved hardstone cameo is a wonderful ivory white and rich reddish-brown. It depicts a portrait of a noble lady in profile; most likely a romanticized artistic representation of Mary Queen of Scots or an aristocrat of the Stuart era. It has been set in a beautiful 18 karat rosy yellow gold setting. The C clasp is hinged so can flatten to make wearing it as a pendant more comfortable.; The pin is in very good antique condition showing only expected signs of wear. It weighs approximately 17.76 grams and measures 1.35 inches (3.4 cm) tall including the bail by 0.87 inches (2.2 cm) wide. The cameo measures 1.57 inches (4 cm) tall by 1.22 inches (3.1 cm) wide. It is inscribed 9283 on the back of the cameo, an unknown faded designer's stamp and the French eagle head hallmark for 18K gold (confirmed with testing).
