Condition Notes: In Victorian times micromosaic jewels were popular souvenirs acquired while on the Grand Tour through Italy. The craft continues even today in touristic Italian city centers. The lot includes three brooches, all completed by pinstem and catch. The two love birds are well executed but a crack is seen in the onyx, bezel tests 10k, having an additional chain and safety pin. The bird bath brooch shows incredibly small tesserae and the image has the most clarity of the three, but two cracks are seen in the black onyx, metal tests 14k. The four birds in a tree shows a few minor pits and a scratch, the bezel is damaged and shows evidence of repair, metal tests 14k. Brooches are completed by pinstems with C catches.
