Victorian Ostrich Brooch | 14K Yellow Gold Diamond |

[ translate ]

An unusual Georgian - Victorian brooch in the form of an ostrich, set with diamonds, in 14K gold, England.; This unique piece has been handcrafted out of 14 karat yellow gold in the form of a running ostrich. Pave set across the front are nine diamonds cut in natural form and totaling approximately 0.50 carats. All the gems have very good color. It is very difficult to grade antique closed-back diamonds so we have assessed this unique piece by its overall appeal. The Pin has been finished with a complementary trombone clasp.; The brooch has only been lightly cleaned to maintain its look and is in overall very good antique condition. There are fractures to two of the diamonds, as shown in the pictures. Both gems are secure and stable in their settings. It weighs approximately 3.13 grams and measures 1.2 inches (3.1 cm) long by 0.47 inches (1.2 cm) wide. It is unmarked but acid tested positive for at least 14Kt gold and is likely 15Kt gold.
