Typical form chased with soldiers and cavalry in a forested landscape in high relief, with knopped stem, the domed circular foot chased with flowers and foliage in high relief, engraved This cup presented by Robt Chadwick Esq. for competition amongst the Manchester & Salford Volunteers and won by the 1st Manchester Regiment Novr 9th 1861, was shot for by that Corps on July 26th 1862 and won by sergt James Holmes of No. 9 Company, to whom it was publicly presented by the Viscountess Grey de Wilton at the Free Trade Hall Novr 10, 1862, the cover with a kneeling soldier finial. Height overall 14 inches, approximately 30 ounces.
