Provenance
The Bordeaux firm Vieillard specialised in orientalist ceramics following the employment of Amédée de Caranza as head of the studio between 1878 and 1882. De Caranza was an Italian who was born in Istanbul and had previously worked with Léon Parvillée, who specialised in Islamic-style ceramics, along with Théodore Deck and Eugène Collinot.
