Viggo Pedersen (b. Copenhagen 1854, d. Roskilde 1926)

“Paa Trappebænken i Aftensolen”. On the bench in the Evening Sun. The artist's family at the house “Carlsberg” in Hillerød. 1910–1920. Signed Viggo Pedersen. Oil on canvas. 96×104 cm.

Exhibited: Den Frie 1921 no. 190. Here dated 1910–1920.

The artist's home was previously called Fiskemestergården (the fishing master's farm). Later the house was renamed Carlsberg, and the lake nearby was called Carlssø. Several artists have lived in the large house on the outskirts of Hillerød, including Christian Zacho (1843–1913), Niels Skovgaard (1858–1938) and Viggo Pedersen, who lived there in 1898–1911.

Condition: Areas with minimal crackles. A few minimal peelings. Small pressure mark with peeling at the lower edge. Needs a light tightening.
