FIRST EDITION, 2 volumes bound in one, 4to (237 x 178mm.), engraved additional title, double-page engraved frontispiece, title with engraved allegorical vignette, 7 engraved plates, eighteenth-century black morocco gilt, elaborately and densely gilt, the covers with fillet panels filled with drawer-handles, floral and foliate sprays, spine tooled gilt in 6 compartments, gilt edges

A MAGNIFICENT COPY in a sumptuous binding of this rare work which catalogues the wunderkammer of Levinus Vincent, a Dutch textiles manufacturer. The visitor’s book for Vincent’s museum records 3,500 visitors including Peter the Great. The book is of some rarity at auction, with ABPC recording only four copies, none as impressive as the copy at hand.
