Vincent van Gogh, Thatched Cottages with Cypress Tree

Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890).

An expressive oil on canvas depicting a pair of rustic thatched-roof cottages set against a backdrop of a towering, dark cypress tree and a swirling blue sky. The composition utilizes a vibrant Post-Impressionist palette of emerald green, ochre, and deep azure, rendered with the artist's signature impasto and rhythmic, undulating brushstrokes. Signed "Vincent" in the lower right. Framed.

Vincent van Gogh was a seminal Post-Impressionist painter whose work is celebrated for its emotional intensity and bold, gestural brushwork. Though he only painted for a decade, he produced a vast body of work, including over 800 paintings that revolutionized the use of color and texture in modern art. His style is characterized by a unique fusion of realistic observation and a deeply personal, symbolic vision of the natural world.
