Vintage Ceramic German Dancing Children Lamp By

[ translate ]

Genuine antique/vintage German hand painted porcelain of dancing children in 18th Century dress. From the 1920s. Courtship Candlestick lamps were some of the first mass-produced residential electrical lamps in history. As electricity took hold from the 1880s-1930s, Dresden porcelain artists simply turned their already popular courtship candlestick holders into electric lamps with a large standard bulb on top. These lamps were considered status items and a great novelty. The charming 18th & 19th century figures remained a lamp mainstay around the world ever since, as generations of women fulfilled the fantasy of having one of their own. Lamp is in good, vintage condition with some scuffs on the base and back of the lamp. Cord has been cut and needs to be replaced. Untested. Is approx 5" x 3" x 13" with bulb.
