Vintage Chelsea Clock Co. Maritime Bulkhead Set Clock Barometer
A matching mid-20th-century marine instrument set by the prestigious Chelsea Clock Company of Boston, Massachusetts, featuring a mechanical striking "Ship's Bell" clock and a companion aneroid holosteric barometer housed in heavy, deep-cylindrical brass bulkhead casings. The clock features a hand-silvered dial with Arabic numerals, an integrated winding slot, and an internal mechanism designed to strike traditional shipboard watch intervals, while the matching barometer tracks atmospheric pressure variations beneath an open-center display. Both instruments retain crisp, highly legible silvered dials, though their protective cases show disparate histories: the clock's nickel/chrome finish remains bright with minimal light scuffing, whereas the barometer casing exhibits severe surface oxidation, deep pitting, and a dense green-gray patina from prolonged exposure to salt-air marine environments. Both in working condition. They measure 3.25 inches high, 4.875 inch diameter across the top. Overall good/fair condition, please see photos.
