While it was widely distributed as an upright cabinet, Nichibutsu and its North American distributor, Taito, also manufactured this sit-down cocktail table version. Designed primarily for bars, lounges, and restaurants, it features wood-grain side paneling, a flat glass top surface, instructions flipped for alternating two-player gameplay, and a coin doors cluster mounted beneath the table frame. : Crazy Climber is famous for its highly unique control mechanism—utilizing two joysticks and zero buttons. The left joystick controls the character's left arm, while the right stick controls the right arm. Players must establish a distinct rhythmic motion to pull themselves up the side of skyscrapers.
