Vintage Ford Super Deluxe Woody Wagon

[ translate ]

Vintage Ford Super Deluxe Woody Wagon 1947, Ford Motor Company first produced the woody wagon in 1929 using the Model A wagon, or depot hack. These were mainly used to transport passengers between train depots, and lodging. Woodie wagon production concluded in 1951. Ford's use of finished wood accents, and trim gives the woody uniquely attractive features. The popularity is evident with production spanning 22 years though the number of Woodie's were low.

In 1947, Ford Motor Company produced 4,910 Woody Wagons. The 1947 V8 passenger car serial numbers range from 799A1412708 ending at 799A2071117. This Super De Luxe Woody Wagon serial number of 799A2035296 places production in the latter half of 1947. Two factors resulted in low production numbers. Only Ford's more affluent customers could afford the 1947 price tag of $3500, and the profit per woody was low due to being more costly to produce. The low production numbers have led to the woody wagon being rare, and sought after in present times. Multiple appearances in Hollywood film, and TV assisted in the woody achieving it's now "Iconic" status.

This 1947 Super De Luxe Woody Wagon is representative of the icon. Undergoing an off the frame concourse restoration overseen by the late George McNeill of Wilkesboro NC. George was well known for his impeccable work in the restoration of classic & rare vehicles. No expense was spared, making this restoration one rarely seen in completion. The vehicle was sent to Cincinnati Wood Works where it was fitted with all new interior, and exterior wood. George made sure the small details were not missed. Deatils such as refinished trim, correct hardware, and correct interior door handles. These small details make all the difference. Without a source of salvageable replacement interior door handles George commissioned the fabrication of solid stainless steel reproduction interior handles. The restoration is well documented, and records can be viewed upon request.
