Vintage Gary Brouwer Costume Turban

Large vintage costume turban with layers or lame and satin and embellished with paste jewels, faux pearls and colorful feathers. This is by the famous milliner Gary Brouwer. Gary Brouwer, the Dutch-born millinery artist who designed hats for high society, Hollywood royalty, Broadway, opera, and circus stars during a nearly 50-year career died in 2020. This is very similar to the turban worn by Johnny Carson as Carnac the Magnificent. The turban may have been part of an opera or Broadway production. Gary Brouwer was the milliner for many MET and Broadway productions over the years, but we were unable to identify it. It is in good condition with some loss to the inside foam around the perimeter.
