Vintage Skoda CZ 250 Motorcycle Ridden by Paul Newman in Sometimes a Great Notion, manufactured 1967 Frame no. 980-02-02269 Engine No. 980-02-02269 42 x 83 inches (106.7 x 210.8 cm) PROVENANCE: Bonham's, Birmingham, England, Collectors' Motorcycles at the Barber Museum, October 6, 2018, lot no. 172. The motorbike was given to the Newman especially for the film, Newman's second directorial effort. Manufactured by a branch of the Skoda car company that previously manufactured weapons, the CZ model recorded six Grand Prix world championships between 1964 through 1969. The CZ delivered 26 horsepower and featured a sand-cast magnesium engine case, a slim fuel tank, and a hand-formed aluminum air box. Highly visible when Stamper rides the zippy two-wheeler during a motocross race. Together with a letter from American Jawa Ltd., (importer for CZ) to Universal stating the 250cc bike with proper VIN number is ready for delivery. Also comes with a signed letter by J.N.
