Literature

The Star Headlight & Lantern Co. (founded in 1889 in Rochester, NY, and later moved to Honeoye Falls, NY) is one of the most prominent names in American railroadiana history. While early eras featured oil and tall-globe kerosene lamps, the company revolutionized the industry mid-century with its highly practical, dual-bulb electric trainman and switchman hand lanterns. These rugged devices were crucial for yard communication and walking inspections prior to the advent of portable two-way radios
