Offered in this lot is vintage turquoise and sterling silver hatband. This classic attention grabbing hat band features eight butterfly conchos, seven square conchos, and a buckle. The buckle and square conchos each feature a center turquoise cabochon set in a smooth silver bezel surrounded by hand stamped designs. The butterfly conchos are decorated with a hand stamped X surrounded by other decorative hand stamped flourishes. MAKER: Unmarked. Likely Navajo based on style and design, however this item is unmarked (as was common of Native jewelry from this era).
APPROX AGE: Vintage (meaning somewhere between the 1930s to 1970s).
SIZE: The hatband measures 22 1/2 inches end to end (opened up completely), and 1 1/2 inches wide at the widest part. The rectangular conchos are 4 1/4 inches x 1 1/2 inches, the butterfly conchos are 3/4 inches x 1 1/4 inches and the buckle is 1 1/2 inches x 3 1/2 inches. The total weight for this item is about 137 grams.
