Vintage Wagner Ware Cast Iron Fat Free Fryer

Vintage Wagner Ware cast iron “Fat Free Fryer,” manufactured by the Wagner Manufacturing Company in Sidney, Ohio in the 1940’s. This pan is more akin to a griddle than a skillet – the height of this piece is 1? with 7/8” in depth. It is 11-1/8? in diameter. It has a “moat” around the inner cooking surface in which fat collects when cooking; hence the name “Fat Free Fryer.” Some would call this pan a skillet griddle. It is in excellent condition - no build up but used and seasoned. This fryer was also made during the 1970's-80's but was slightly larger. This is the 1940 11 1/8" in diameter and 7/8" deep. has the dual pouring spout for either right or left handed people. The pan is marked on the bottom with the Wagner Ware stylized logo, FAT FREE FRYER, PAT. APP’LD FOR and the p/n, 1102. It has the letter A after the p/n. The pan sits flat. Milling marks are still visible on the cooking surface of this pan, though it does also have some very minor tool marks and other signs of use, which makes me think that this lovely pan has had little if any use. There is some slight roughness on the surface in areas; this will even out with use or with steel wool if you so desire but use and additional seasoning will probably take care of the it. This pan will be a great cooker and display piece.
