Visconti - Fountain pen

Visconti chose this worldwide iconic symbol of freedom as theme for a limited edition of 776 fountain pens. The full text of the declaration is featured on the precious resin. It also shows a detailed representation of the Founding Fathers and the cap is engraved with the ultimate symbol of American freedom, the eagle. The fountain pen has a 23-carat palladium nib and uses a plunger filling system (in the shape of the Liberty Bell) . The pens come in a leather and walnut box with an engraved magnifying glass and a scroll with the text of the Declaration of Independence. The technique used: the drawings, inspired by Dürer's woodcarving, are executed in scrimshaw. The pens are engraved and the engraving is filled with calligraphy ink. After the ink has dried, the pen is polished and then coloured by hand by famous artist Claudio Mazzi. This technique is performed entirely by Visconti in Florence, Italy.
